Emoji Cupcakes

My son loves Emoji's - especially the Poop Emoji and asked for Emoji cupcakes for his birthday party.  I used fondant to make the faces and ganache for the poos.  They topped vanilla cupcakes. The best part was that both of my kids helped me make the faces.  We had heaps of fun together.

Nutella, Kit Kat and Choc covered Liquorice cake

It was my friends birthday.  She is an amazing person so I needed an amazing cake to match! The brief was that she love Nutella, Kit Kats and Choc covered Liquorice.  I made a chocolate mud cake and swirled Nutella through it.  I then made a Nutella Chocolate Ganache.

Easter Basket Cake

No matter how many cakes I make I still have bad cake days.  This cake was perfect in my head and an absolute nightmare in real life!  Easter in Queensland is hot.  This means that ganache can be a real jerk and this cake was no exception to the rule.  I envisioned a smooth ganache covered cake with a large egg at the back, bunnies scattered in between coloured Easter Eggs.  I decorated the cake and the egg broke and the colours didn't match and I hated the cake.  I sprinkled some sprinkles hoping to add a pop of colour but it added a pop of badness.  Then I took everything off.  I made a basket for the eggs our of sprinkle covered chocolate shards. Then I put sprinkles around the base. there was sprinkles scattered in the icing from my previous fail but I left it.  I found a Happy Easer sign that was meant to be for a photo both and added it as well. I forgot to mention too.. When I was cooking the cake I ran out of eggs and had to use a chia seed substitute.  It worked well and was a delicious cake but not my finest cake moment.

Turkish Delight Cake

This is my sons cake I made in April 2019.  He loves Turkish Delight and asked for a Turkish delight cake. His birthday fell on Easter this year so there are also Turkish delight Easter Eggs on top. The icing was chocolate ganache with Turkish Delight pieces melted in. I sprinkled green sprinkles as it is his favourite colour.

Garden Baby Bugs - Baby Shower Cake

This is the second baby cake I made in June 2018.  It was for a colleague at work.  She didn't know the sex of the baby, so I used gender neutral colours to create this flour garden baby cake.

It's a Boy - Baby Shower cake

I have been trying for ages to update my blog.  Here it goes..

I made this cake in July 2018 for a beautiful Mummy friends baby shower.  I love the grey, blue and white mix for a baby cake. The inside was chocolate mud with a white chocolate ganache.
