My Sons Circus 1st Birthday Cake
This is the cake I made for my sons 1st birthday party. We had a circus party and I couldn't wait to make the cake. There are so many fantastic circus cakes out their so I wanted to create something that was original but also incorporated the things I loved that others have done. The day was so hot for a day in April and it had been raining the days prior. The humidity really didn't go well with the fondant on the cake so please don't look too close as there are some mishaps that happened along the way. I also included the photo scene I made for the party cause everyone loved it so much! It was a great day! Oh yeah- the cake... it was vanilla on the bottom layer, chocolate in the middle and caramel at the top. The whole cake was covered in white choc ganache and then fondant.
Checker board Aussie Cake
This is my 2012 Aussie Day celebration cake. I had never made a checker board cake before and it was a lot of fun! The cakes were flavored pineapple and lime and was covered in white choc ganache. I was going to cover the cake in fondant but it was so hot on that week that it wouldn't work for me. I will work on its straightness next time but I'm pretty happy with it for my first attempt!
Band Cake
This is a cake that I made for a friend for his birthday. The image is his band name. It was a choc mud with choc ganache and black icing
Cherry Blossom Cake
I have always wanted to make a cherry blossom cake. I like the 3 and 4 tier cakes with the tree up the side but am not really a fan when it goes up the side of a single cake and lays flat on the top. This was my solution - I made a wire tree and coated it in chocolate and then put the cherry blossom flowers on the cake. It turned out such a beautiful cake- Yummy too! It was chocolate mudcake with a chocolate ganache.
